    Absolutely Obsessed

I am absolutely obsessed with Nerdy Prudes Must Die. It has everything I love: dark comedy, horror, amazing music, memorable characters, and a story that is both fun and smart from beginning to end.

One of my favorite things about it is how well it fits into the Hatchetfield lore and the Cosmic Horrors. I loved all the references and how naturally they were included. Nothing felt random or thrown in just for fan service. It actually deepened the story and made the whole show feel even richer.

The writing deserves so much praise because it is genuinely one of the strongest parts of the show. It is clever, sharp, funny, and intentional the whole way through. I especially loved the use of leitmotifs and how the music keeps reinforcing themes, tension, and character moments without ever feeling repetitive.

There are three scenes I especially want to highlight. First, Bully the Bully/Bury the Bully was so cleverly written. It is catchy in a way that gets completely stuck in your head, and the snapping and Grace’s part make it even more memorable. Second, the Hatchetown ensemble scene was amazing because the writing and the music work together so well to build tension. It feels big, theatrical, and intense in exactly the right way. Third, the summoning scene with the Lords in Black was one of my favorite parts of the whole show because it was packed with tension while still being so much fun to watch.

The cast was incredible across the board, but I especially want to highlight a few people. Angela Giarratana was amazing as Grace Chastity. She played her with such intensity, awkwardness, and conviction that Grace became one of the most fascinating characters in the whole show. Lauren Lopez was incredible as Ruth and gave her so much heart, humor, and vulnerability that she ended up being one of the most lovable characters for me. For example, little moments like when Grace mentions sex magic and Ruth smirks, those tiny details add so much personality and make the characters feel real and specific. It’s those kinds of choices that really elevate the writing and performances. Bryce Charles absolutely blew me away with her singing, especially that belting, because it was so powerful, controlled, and full of emotion. And Will Branner was perfect as Max JƤgerman, bringing exactly the right mix of charisma, confidence, and menace that made him both entertaining and genuinely threatening.

Then there is Max JƤgerman, who is just iconic. He is such a fun and threatening presence, and the whole idea of him works so well. Also, as someone who speaks German, I absolutely caught that ā€œJƤgerā€ means ā€œhunter,ā€ which makes the name even better considering how he chases his victims. That is such a clever detail and made me appreciate the writing even more.

Everyone sings so amazingly that there is honestly not a single weak link in the cast. That is part of what makes the show feel so complete. It is funny, creepy, dramatic, musically strong, and full of performances that are specific and memorable.

I am sad Jaime Lyn was not part of the cast, because I would have loved to see what she would have brought to this show, but even then, the cast they had absolutely delivered. Honestly, this could be a Broadway hit. It has the music, the story, the lore, the characters, and the talent for it. I’m already imagining the Broadway-level theater magic with set changes, lighting, and special effects bringing moments like the summoning and Hatchetown to life in an even bigger, more immersive way.

Overall, I loved the humor, the horror, the references, the lore, the performances, and how fully committed the entire show was to its world. This is one of those musicals I could rewatch over and over and still be completely obsessed.

I’m already recommending this to all my friends, honestly not just this show but everything you’ve done, because it’s all genuinely worth the praise.
